Looking back, I wonder how much of this game's bad reception came from it being just WAY too sad. Like the first game wasn't exactly cheerful but part 2 was just miserable the whole way through, particularly the ending.

It was at about this point in the game that I personally started to lose interest in the game. I had spent like 10 doing people chores just for the end goals to get further and further away it seemed. Doing repetitive chores for characters I couldn't give less of a shit about just was not fun, especially because John is almost never rewarded for doing said chores. The end goal is to capture Javier and Bill, but 99% of the missions have fuck all to do with them, and that just simply isn't very interesting. SPOILERS Thankfully that last issue was fixed when John goes after Dutch. The main story actually started to feel like a main story, and the missions were actually relevant to John's situation. Sadly, that was too little too late for me. I don't blame Jett for seemingly not enjoying this game so far, especially when Red Dead fanboys were constantly flooding his comments begging him to play the game. His expectations were probably way too high for how mediocre the gameplay, and a lot of the story is.

Buy a resurrection stone from any shop so you can be revived so you can start where you were before you died
